Dr. Rockwood received fellowship training at the home of external ring fixation, Russian Ilizarov Scientific Center for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics, in Kurgan, Russia. He has experience with hundreds of cases using external ring fixation in surgery. The recent application of total talus replacement, tibial boot cages, and the ability to salvage severe bone loss and injury has expanded the ability to save limbs. During his training at Yale University Hospital and Palmetto General Hospital, Dr. Rockwood treated thousands of wounds and coordinated care with Hyperbaric Medicine, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, and Vascular Surgeons. He has advanced training in nerve decompression surgery for patients with chronic pain associated with peripheral neuropathy, learning from Dr. Lee Dellon from Johns Hopkins University.
